Provincial Superior's Circular n. 3
Solemnity of St. Joseph, March 19, 2013
May the peace and joy of our Lord Jesus Christ who makes all things new with the power of his Holy Spirit be with all of you!
We share with the Universal Church the joyful election of the new Supreme Pontiff and Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis, and welcome this fresh blow of the Spirit that comes with his person. The Word of God last 5th Sunday of Lent, March 17, seems to synchronize well with what we are living through: “Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not; see, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (cf Isaiah 43:16-21). Today, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, we join the global community in celebrating the inauguration of this Pontificate. While we thank the Lord for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI for his self-effacing and self-sacrificing act, we praise the Lord as well for the gift of our new Pope and we pledge our obedience to him as enjoined by our Rule of Life: “We promise to adhere to the will of God mediated through the Supreme Pontiff, the Rule of Life and the authority of the Congregation” (RL 37).
Thank you as well for the co-responsibility shown in finishing the community sharing on the First Part of our Congregational Journey of Vocation Animation guided by the Booklet Rekindle the Gift of God within You. I trust that each community is preparing to submit the fruit of their sharing to Sr. M. Peter Evardone, Provincial Secretary, on or before March 25, 2013 (cf. Circular 1). I also hope that in the following days, we can start to reflect on the Second Part of this journey. It might be a good spiritual exercise this coming Holy Week, as a way of “accompanying and being accompanied by our Lord” in this critical moment of his life, to remember and re-live the crises we have passed through, our concrete participation in his Paschal Mystery. What of these moments have been life-giving to us, notwithstanding the pain, and what of these do we desire to share with our sisters to help rekindle the life of discipleship? Please agree among yourselves when you would like to begin the community sharing for this second part, taking into consideration that our Spiritual Exercises will continue till the end of May. As target date for the submission of the materials on the community sharing regarding the Second Part of our journey, let us settle for the significant date of July 12, the Birth Anniversary of Mother Maria Scholastica Rivata.
I would also like to announce the joyful news of the admission of Sr. M. Arlene Martinez to perpetual profession. We shall celebrate it on May 18, the Feast of Mary Queen of the Apostles, in our Chapel in Antipolo City. Meanwhile Sr. M. Jennifer Villamor and Sr. M. Benedict Basañes are slowly preparing for their departure for Rome to participate in the Course of Preparation for Perpetual profession. Two sisters, namely, Sr. M. Eunice Montera and Sr. M. Lilibeth Bernaldez, will participate in the Pauline Family Charism Course in Rome.
Thank you in advance for the prayers you are offering for the following intentions: the gift of a new vocation for our Province, the opening of our PDDM presence in the Sanctuary of Wu Fong Ci, Yilan in Taiwan on June 1, 2013; the ongoing preparations for projected construction of the new DMC house in Xinzhuang, Taipei, and last but not the least, the Centralization of our Apostolic Structures – workshop and centers – in the Province.
With this, is my anticipated greetings for the coming Easter celebration! Like Mary, the Mother of God, and the women of the Gospel, may we be continually transformed by our meeting with the Risen Lord and Master!
Sr. M. Gemma Victorino, PDDM
