Provincial Superior's circular no. 8
Circular n. 8
August 15, 2017
Blessed and loving greetings to all on this Solemnity of our Lady’s Assumption into heaven!
On this special day, as we remember the many events in the Universal and Local Church and entrust them to Mary’s intercession, we would like to pray in a special way for our Superior General, Sr. M. Micaela Monetti, who celebrates her birthday today. We thank the Lord for her person and her particular ministry of unity and charity in our Congregation.
In the international scene, we are enjoined to offer fervent prayers for peace especially for Venezuela, North Korea and the United States of America. We also continue to invoke Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to help our government authorities in resolving the ongoing conflict in the southern part of our country and to save us from the plague of war and terrorism.
In a few days’ time we shall celebrate the Second Session of the 3rd Provincial Chapter (August 20-25, 2017). I thank you heartily for your continued prayers for the delegates of this Congregational event. With the help of God’s Spirit, we pray that we may be given the wisdom and light to discern well and decide on the application of the priorities of the PDDM 9th General Chapter in the Provincial level.
Through this circular, I would like to remind everyone of the initiative for the month of September, the Month of the Word, at the level of the Pauline Family. I am attaching here the letter of the Pauline Family Superior General written on January 25, 2017 which gives the motive and indications for the celebration of this Month of the Word. In an email message last July 19, 2017, I have also informed our Local superiors of communities of the coordination decided by the Provincial Superiors of the Pauline Family here in the Philippines: National Capital Region Communities (Manila and surrounding provinces) – Society of St. Paul; Northern Luzon (which includes Pampanga and Dagupan) - Pastorelle Sisters; Southern Luzon (which includes Cavite) - Daughters of St. Paul; Visayas Region (which includes Cebu) - Daughters of St. Paul; Mindanao Region (which includes Davao and Iligan) - PDDM.
In the meeting attended by Sr. M. Bernadette Martinez regarding the details of this Pauline Family initiative here at the National Capital Region, it has been decided that the Opening Mass will be held on September 3, 2017, 4:00 pm at the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Pasay City. We are all enjoined to attend this Opening Celebration, especially the nearby communities of Manila, Makati, Quezon City and Antipolo. Some highlights of the month-long celebration will be the Bible Quiz Diocesan Parish Youth Grand Finals on September 9 and the St. Paul National Bible Quiz on September 16. The closing Mass will be at the SSP Chapel, Makati on September 24, 2017 at 4:00pm where a “Commissioning of the Bile” will be done as a highlight of the celebration. In this event we shall be involving also our FDM, ADM and PLMC representatives especially those active in the practice of Lectio Divina. May I then ask the favor from the Local superiors of the above-mentioned communities, in coordination with the sisters-in-charge of FDM, ADM and PLMCs, to communicate to Sr. M. Bernadette the exact number of the representatives you would like to send in the event; also to please indicate what is their preferred Bible – English or Tagalog. They will be given the copies of the Bible as part of the commissioning rites. Let us pray for “great creativity and fruitful cooperation in this initiative in order to realize the inspiration of the Founder who wanted us – religious and lay – a unique body, straining toward the evangelization of that “great parish” that is the world.”
I take the occasion to inform you also of two-month leave of absence of Sr. M. Magdalene Magallanes, for family reasons, particularly for the present need of caring for her sick mother.
Lastly, I repeat my gratitude to you all, also in the name of my natural family, for your prayers and affectionate nearness during the demise of my beloved Mother. May God reward you for your kindness! May Mary ‘assumed into heaven’ continue to guide us all in the path of discipleship and service.
