                                                                                                                                              Pentecost Sunday

Dearest Sisters,

May the power of the Holy Spirit come down upon each one of us, our hearts be filled and enkindled with the fire of His love!  I greet you all with the blow of a ‘soft, gentle breeze’ welcoming Him in our midst!

We celebrate the birthday of the Church and of all those who have been reborn into Christ’s Mystical Body, on this day of the Solemnity of Pentecost.  The apostles were all “in prayer” in the Upper Room waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit: “With one heart these all joined constantly in prayer, together with some women, including Mary, the Mother of Jesus. “(Acts 1:14)

We are also one with Blessed James Alberione, our Founder, praying to Mary Queen of  the Apostles:  Virgin Most Pure… rejoice for the days in which you were Teacher, Comforter and Mother of the Apostles in the Cenacle.  You invoked and received the divine Paraclete.  With your all-powerful intercession, obtain for us the grace to realize the value of the human person. May the spiritual misery of poor humanity move us.   Grant that vast Africa, immense Asia, promising Oceania, troubled Europe, the two Americas may exercise a powerful attraction in our being. Mother of the Church, Queen of the Apostles, to you we sigh, mourning in this valley of tears. ( paraphrased from the Chaplet to Mary QA,  The Prayers of the Pauline Family).

Allow me to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you sisters who, with docility, availability and co-responsibility, have responded to the call as servant leaders of our local communities.  May we be consoled with the gift of Knowledge and Wisdom from the Holy Spirit.

Together, let us be ‘all of one mind’ and ‘join our hearts’  praying for the following intentions:

  • Centennial celebration of the APC (especially our FDM) in Rome
  • Mid-Year Meeting of the Provincial Government in Baguio on June 5-9
  • PLMI Formative Meeting on June 12-15
  • Superiors and Bursars’ Formative Meeting on June 25-29
  • and for the ongoing formative sessions and retreats this 2018.

May we be open and free to receive the Holy Spirit with the fullness of His gifts and of its fruits.  With you, I thank Him for inspiring us and ‘teaching us all things’ in authentic communion of spirit.

In His love,

Sr. M. Anthony Basa, PDDM
