The Archdiocese of Manila organized once again this year the Philippine Conference on New Evangelization, headed by Most Rev. This gathering was attended and participated by almost 6,0000  delegates, and most of them were youth coming from the different parts of the country and even from other countries.

As a congregation known for the Eucharistic dimension of our apostolate, we were closely involved in the preparations for this big event in the Philippine Church. We were part of the Liturgy Committee and was asked to prepare the liturgical and prayer spaces together with Fr. Bernice Wynn Rio of Tuguegarao  and Mr. Aaron James Veloso. There were also PDDM sisters who were part of the Choir who sung in the liturgical celebrations on the said event. Moreover, all the prayer intentions wrote by mostly of the youth participants were entrusted to us, PDDM sisters, for us to be prayed for especially during our Adoration.

This 4-day conference opened with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by Most Rev. Antonio J. Ledesma , SJ. Archbishop of Cagayan de Oro and was followed by series of talks such as “Recognizing: The World of New Generations”, “Interpreting: Jesus Ever Young’, “Choosing: ‘So that’s what you call communion- using the medium, being the message’ where Mr. Sean-Patrick Lovett of the Vatican Radio and Vatican Dicastery for Communication was one of the guest speakers.  The first day concluded with the celebration of Cofessio Pecccati et Laudis. The following days were full of liturgical celebrations: Holy Masses, Evening Prayer and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament presided by Bishops and talks centering and speaking about the youth of today and in our Church. There was the “Heart to heart with Cardinal Tagle” with guests: Atty. Anna Tarhata Basman, Robi Domingo, Sisi Rondina, Austin M. D. Quick and Bro. There were also segments on “Listening and Accompanying the Church” and “Hungry Souls, Holy Companions” where participants listen to the experiences of the youth ministers and their youth disciples. Moreover, there were concurrent Sessions on Youth Accompaniment and Discipleship in the Church which were attended by all the participants in the conference. The event was even more actively participated because of Praise and Worship Animation by the members of the Light of Jesus Community, Biblical Drama and A Musical Narrative of Darkness and Light Concert with the Jesuit Communications.

The event ended with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by H.E. Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, underlining on his homily 'how we must welcome the youth of today' and was highlighted by the mission sending ceremony. Within the Mass, we venerated the Our Lady of Piat of Tuguegarao as participants raised their white handkerchiefs asking the our Lady for her maternal comfort and love especially to our youth. At the end of the Mass, the Archbishop asked all the participants including himself to send text message to their loved ones and friends with the message, “Stay online with Jesus! Christ is alive!"
