A Promise amidst COVID 19 crisis

As the Pauline Family celebrated the feast of Mary, Queen of the Apostles, the Philippine-Taiwan-Hongkong Province rejoiced for the gift of vocation and courageous promise of Sr. Ma. Christina Guadalquiver in making her perpetual profession of vows in our congregation. At the chapel of Alberione Center in Quezon City at 10 o’clock in the morning of May 30, 2020 and during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist which was presided by Rev. Fr. Jean Marie Rollin Flores, SSP (Provincial Superior of Society of St. Paul Philippine-Macau Province), Sr. Ma. Christina stood before the sisters and the faithful to offer herself for life in the service of the Eucharist, the Priesthood and the Liturgy. Sr. M. Anthony Basa, our Provincial Superior, echoed the words of our Superior General, Sr. M. Micaela Monetti, that “truly, this is a proclamation of what matters most to the Divine Master and that no pandemic can stop this lifetime offering.”  Since we are still in the atmosphere of forced lockdown, the celebration had a live streaming through facebook and Sr. M. Anthony provided this access for the family, friends and sisters who wished to be one with Sr. Ma. Christina’s perpetual profession. It was a solemn and meaningful celebration for Sr. Ma. Christina and her very simple profession turned out to be a worldwide celebration. Sr. Ma. Christina was very grateful for this occasion and had expressed that indeed, she felt the closeness of every sister, friends and family members despite the fact that theirs is a virtual presence.  After the Holy Eucharist, the community gathered at the refectory of the sisters and shared a simple meal.
