PDDM Centenary Celebration in Taiwan

On the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, March 19, 2024, the PDDM Sisters in Taiwan had the joy of celebrating the Centenary of their Foundation as a Congregation at Our Lady of China Chuch, Xindian District, New Taipei City.

The Eucharistic Celebration in Chinese language presided by Most Rev. Chung An-zhu, Archbishop of Taipei happened at 10:00 a.m.. It was concelebrated by Msgr. Stefano Mazutti, the Apostolic Nuncio of Taiwan and   Archbishop Emeritus John Hung. A good number of priests of different nationalities were also present.

The simple yet solemn Eucharist was celebrated with the Readings and the Prayer of the Faithful in Chinese and English languages. The choir of Our Lady of China Church through their songs also contributed to the solemnity of the Mass.

Sr. M. Virginia Velez read the Chinese version of the thanksgiving message of Sr. M. Magdalene Magallanes, the Provincial Superior of the PDDM Philippine-Taiwan-Hong Kong Province.

After the Mass, the PDDM Sisters moved forward below the sanctuary and expressed our gratitude to God by singing, "My Heart's Thanksgiving."

The joy of the celebration continued through an agape prepared with the help of some of the Chinese parishioners. While feasting at the table the video presentation of our life and mission in Taiwan was shown.

Universality and solidarity as a church were experienced through this occasion which was well-participated by Chinese, Filipinos, French, Italians, Indonesians, and Africans. Members of the Pauline Family: Fr. Ramon Manalo, SSP, Daughters of St. Paul, Pastorelle Sisters and Pauline Cooperators also graced the gathering with their presence.

Indeed God has been and is faithful to the PDDM Sisters throughout these one hundred years. Thus, with Blessed Alberione, our Founder, we say, "Everything is of God. Everything leads to the Magnificat."
